About América Otherwise Radio

América Otherwise is a radio program that goes behind the news on foreign affairs and the role of the United States in the world. We cover stories that are overlooked and under-reported, interviewing experts, activists, and newsmakers about pressing international topics. On the program, we examine the United States from the outside in, asking both how U.S. actions overseas impact us here at home, and how the United States shapes the world. We use the spelling “América” in a nod to José Martí, to demonstrate that, as he said, these are not the times for sleeping.
The show is hosted by Christy Thornton. Christy is a historian, activist, and writer whose work has appeared in The Nation, Jacobin, Al-Jazeera America, and the New York Times “Room for Debate.” She holds a PhD in History from NYU, and teaches at Rowan University in New Jersey. You can follow her on twitter for the latest updates.

You can subscribe to the show as a podcast on iTunes, Android, or via RSS.
